Children Whole and Free

26 January- 13 April 2025

As we attune to our creation of emerging, liberatory systems for our collective future, we are also living inside and between the old systems as they crumble. This makes for some challenging times in the years ahead, and it’s why our personal and community practices are particularly important right now… especially for children.

How do we attend to children in this moment between worlds?

There are many small and significant ways we can support children to stay connected with their inner wisdom, light, and joy… small invitations, small questions, small shifts in what we do (and don’t do), what we say (and don’t say), and how we listen to children.

Children Whole and Free is an eleven-week course with four (optional) online gathering sessions designed for parents, grandparents, guardians, educators, mentors, and caregivers who want to nourish a strong foundation for children to know themselves as whole and free.

This course—attuned to children, liberation, and love—is part asynchronous with new content (prompts, experiences, invitations) added to the course webpage each week for you to explore on your own, and part community gathering (four optional online sessions) for you to connect with other adults who care about children’s liberation.

The course is designed to support you as you expand your awareness of yourself, your child/ren, and the environment that impacts how whole and free children feel they are “allowed” to be.

Through eleven weeks of excavation, wonder, and playful practice, we’ll explore how we might more deeply listen to children, attune to frequencies of liberation, and align our daily actions with our intentions.

This isn’t a course that asks you to add more to your already full plate or “improve” your parenting, teaching, or caregiving. It’s designed to meet you where you are, and trust yourself more fully, while you engage in ordinary, everyday moments with your child/ren.

Through this course, you’ll learn to:

  • attune to children, curiosity, love, and liberation

  • expand the ways you listen to children

  • notice how small things you say impact how children see and understand themselves

  • look deeply at yourself, your child/ren, and the many (mixed) messages in the world

  • make subtle shifts in how you engage within everyday moments with your child/ren

  • connect with other adults who care for children

  • more deeply trust, nourish, and release judgment of yourself.

What you can expect each week:

  • Prompts to expand what you notice in yourself, your child, and the environment

  • Small invitations for you to try out in ordinary daily moments with your child/ren

  • Supplemental resources relevant to the week’s content (books, websites, practices, other)

  • New songs added to our course playlist

  • Guiding questions to support coherence and connection across layers of the course

FAQ:

Who is the course for?

It’s designed for parents, grandparents, mentors, educators, neighbors, and other caregivers who spend time with one or more children on a weekly basis. The course will focus on how you listen, attune, and align your actions in support of your child/ren during the ordinary moments of a day. We’ll focus on small interactions in any context where you find yourself with a child (e.g., kitchen table, walk to the bus, reading a book, morning routine, outdoor play), and the subtle ways children receive messages from their environment.

Does the course focus on children of a particular age?

This course focuses on you and your engagement with children of any age, birth to early adulthood.

What if I can’t attend one or more of the online gatherings?

The weekly content shared on the webpage (and via email) is the core material for the course. The online gathering sessions are optional opportunities for you to connect and share with others. Any group experiences or additional resources mentioned during online sessions will be shared on the course webpage.

Will the online gathering sessions be recorded?

In order to protect the privacy of those who share, especially given that we will be sharing about children, the online sessions will not be recorded. However, any opening group experiences (to connect and attune with our intentions) will be audio recorded to share on the course webpage and if any items of resource are mentioned during the sessions, those will also be shared with everyone.

What is the time commitment for the course?

This will depend on you, but generally you can expect to spend 30 minutes at the beginning of each week to review the new questions, prompts, and invitations, and at least 5 minutes each morning to connect with your weekly intention. The rest of your engagement will take place during the regular things you do (with and without children) during your days. You’ll be invited to take notes and record things you notice, but only within what feels authentic and easeful in your context.

Is the course material designed for children?

No, this is a course designed for adults who interact with children.

Will I receive individualized support for my child?

This is a group course designed for you to engage on your own with yourself and your child/ren. The course intends to support you as you support your child. It does not provide specific advice or support for your individual child/ren. If you’d like to receive 1:1 support, you may book a private session with me: 1:1 Support.
