for educators

Liberated learning—full of joy, play, curiosity, and connection, requires liberated educators.

Children are born whole and free. It is often when they enter school or other formalized environments when they begin to “lose” some of their joy and curiosity as they disconnect from what they know deep within.

Educators, too, are born whole and free. They’ve simply had a longer stretch of time to be conditioned to disconnect from who they are and what they know. We must stop outsourcing for educators’ learning. Liberation is not served by pre-packaged models or easy-to-implement “solutions.”

We must create communities of trust for educators to reconnect with themselves and what they know is best for children. And we must invite educators into their own liberatory experiences of play, wonder, flexibility, slowness, unknowing, laughter, mess, dream, and remembering.

My work supports educators to in-source their own wisdom and more deeply notice and connect with the wisdoms of children, families, and others they serve.

Do you want to feel whole and free as you guide playful, joyful, curious learning for others? Do you want to create conditions that support the liberation of educators?

The bridge to the new paradigm extends from wherever you are—whether you work inside, between, or outside of current educator systems.

I’ll meet you where you are.

I’m here to support you to trust yourself and what you know is best for children, and to stay true to who you are and the gifts you’re here to share with children, families, and others in your care.

Noticing Matters essays

I write and share monthly essays in the landscape of curiosity, awe, liberation, learning, and emergent energetic matters.

I frequently share small, everyday practices for holistic learning and wellbeing within (or alongside) the essays.

You may access the full archive of my monthly essays on this site. If you’d like regular weekly writings of resource, I welcome you to become a paid subscriber of my weekly sharing via Substack.

1:1 Support

If you long to teach and share in ways that feel more and more impossible within the system where you work and you dream of other possibilities…

If you want to stay in the system where you are now and you’d like a fresh perspective to help you find more pockets and cracks to work within…

If you have a vision for children and educators that you’d love to move toward and create into…

…I’m here to support and guide as you stretch into the gifts you’re here to share as the full expression of yourself.

for groups or teams of educators inside existing schools and organizations

Existing educational systems are one of the most challenging locations of the current moment. You know this in your bones. I’m here to support you to find hidden opportunities, build responsive structures, and create small moments that potentiate liberatory learning and trust in educators.

Talks

When an exiting structure feels tight, those within it forget to breathe. A small nudge or spark is often enough to remind educators of their connection to the wider pulse of aliveness in the world.

I offer small talks to invite small openings of remembering. You may request a talk around a particular topic (e.g., play, curiosity, awe, slowness, feelings, noticing, nature) or you may simply share a few details about your context and I’ll create something attuned to what feels most resonant for the moment.

Workshops

Workshops invite small shifts of practice and support educators to (re)engage with what they know is best for children. Because workshops are hands-on and exploratory, they also allow educators to experience liberatory practices for themselves.

I custom design workshops for your unique context. You may request a workshop around a particular topic or a central question. Or, you may share details about your context and the kinds of things with which educators are grappling, and I can suggest a few possible workshop options.

Small Community of Practice

A small, opt-in community of practice with a simple focus is a beautiful way to grow educator trust (in themselves and each other).

This might be a group of educators gathering to look at student writing, moments of classroom play, examples of curiosity, or the ways students express their feelings about learning.

I can help you design a community of practice within whatever pockets of time/space you have available, facilitate its beginning sessions, and advise you on ways to sustain it in the future.

Trust-based Protocols

Trust doesn’t grow from the top-down or through mission statements pronouncing its importance. Trust is nourished slowly, one interaction and experience at a time.

I design and facilitate trust-based protocols for educators (and other stakeholders). Based upon the details of your context and my knowledge of various protocols, I’ll work with you to customize something best suited for your group’s unique dynamics.

Consultation

If your organization wants to shift with the current moment and is committed to the deep work required to unlearn logics and practices that limit liberation of educators and children, I am 100% ready to work alongside you.

First steps include:

-An introductory meeting for you to share your dreams and goals

-A site visit to notice, describe, and wonder about the various messages (in)congruent with liberation within your context

-An opportunity discussion to explore ways we might work together to support short-term and long-term goals

for creators of new systems + opportunities for children, families, and educators

The challenge of creating new systems is to not replicate old logics inside them. This requires deep attention to how logics of knowledge and schooling are held in our bodies, in our language, and in our implicit habits of “improvement” and “change.” I’m here to support others who are ready for deep and nuanced work to attune to liberation of learning.

Resee School: a workshop series

Intended for a group or small team who are working together to create a new kind of school, program, or learning experience. Local or online.

Layers of the Resee School series include: Unpacking Cause-Effect Logic; Revising Effort, Productivity, and Usefulness; Unlearning External Motivation; Rethinking Part-Whole Relationships; Seeding and Pollination

Consultation

You may have a proposal, curriculum, template, map, or other kind of a plan for what you are creating. Or, you may already be inside its early stages of development.

I can support you to identify threads of old logic that are latent or only partially removed from what you are creating. We can then work together to more deeply dissolve, revise, and reimagine for congruence with liberation.

Generative Community of Practice

The process you use for what you are building is what creates its form. Let a community of practice be the foundation for the integrity, congruence, wisdom, and authentic connections you want to create.

I can help you build a trust-based community of educators (and other stakeholders) as you build the new system, program, or experience you want to create. I’ll work with you to design your community of practice, facilitate its early process, and support you to build internal capacity for its continuous regeneration.
